an unforgettable encounter

When I was about 9 or 10, I lived in a three story victorian era house, the attic being the 3rd story. My bedroom door was right under the entrance to the attic. From time to time we would get bats in our house, and the ones that would be stuck in chimneys after we had sealed them for the winter just happened to be only in mine. I always felt like I was being watched in the house, no matter how many family members or friends I had around. The most unnerving rooms in the house, to me, were all on the 2nd story. My bedroom, my parents bedroom, and the upstairs bathroom. The only other room on the 2nd story was the guest room, which only held exercise supplies and a blow up mattress. I remember I would sometimes sleep in the guest room because I was too afraid to go into my own room, despite ants biting me as I slept in the guest room.

So you’re probably wondering, “Why would you be so afraid of your own room?” Well, I’ll tell you why. Within the first few days of us living in the house, I woke up in the middle of the night. My hair at the time was quite long. I slowly rolled over onto my hair, only to see a huge rat napping on it. I was terrified, and slowly pulled my hair out from under it, lightly tugging its body across my pillow. I managed to roll out of my bed and immediately sprinted to my parents room across the hall. I told my dad what I saw, so he came back to take a look. Of course, there was no rat in sight. I was relieved, disappointed, and fearful all at once. Relieved the rat was gone, disappointed my dad didn’t see it, and fearful it was hiding in my room somewhere. Luckily, I never experienced that again.

I don’t exactly remember how long I had been living in the house before this next experience, but it definitely scared me enough to never be comfortable in my own room again. I was lying on my stomach, staring into my closet, where my “night light” was. (the night light was just the closet light.) I had been staring into my closet for only a few minutes, and I was still wide awake. I blinked, and instantly everything changed around me. I was paralyzed from the shoulders down, my eyes and neck being the only moving parts of my body. Everything had begun to violently shake as if there were an earthquake, and neon lights were flashing all around me. Things fell off of shelves, my mantle, etc. Glass and porcelain knick knacks shattered to pieces as they met my wooden floors. I had almost immediately began sweating so profusely my legs and back were drenched. I was panting through my nose, since I was unable to open my mouth. I just wanted it all to stop, so I slowly began to turn my head the other way. Before I could get my face out of my pillow, I suddenly feel hands pushing the back of my head, forcing me to nearly suffocate. They eventually stop, and I manage to turn my head the rest of the way, away from all the ruckus. As I did so, the palms of the hands had moved to the middle of my spine, grinding harder and harder until the pain was nearly unbearable. My scalp and face were now soaked in sweat aswell. A feeling of someone sitting on my lower back with their legs on either side of me became apparent, and I truly started to panic. I also began to hear a little girl screaming into my ear for me to wake up. When I say screaming, I don’t mean yelling. I mean damn near banshee status screaming. I eventually began using all of my strength to move my feet. After what seemed to be hours, one of my feet finally jerks. I squeeze my eyes shut, focusing all my strength on tossing whatever was on my back off. I take in a huge breath, gritting my teeth, and finally flpping my back towards the closet I had been staring at before. A freezing cold washed over me as my covers slipped off only the slightest bit and a hard THUD rang in my ears. My bed isnt completely against the wall, but in that instant, my mattress was pushed all the way against it. As soon as I had caught my breath enough to know I was awake, I threw my duvet over my face, shaking profusely. I laid in silence for a few minutes, only being able to hear my heavy breathing. The last thing I heard before passing out was a whisper of, “I hate you!” in the same little girls’ voice.

Sleep pralasis nightmare

I’m a big fan when it comes to sleeping, it’s the time where you can shut the world out with your own thoughts and memory’s, even the nightmares give you a sudden sense of adrenaline and excitement. However I’ve come to being wary of what position I sleep in, I often sleep on my side with my hand tucked under my pillow, but with some tragic fights with my mother’s boyfriend I was forced to stay at my sisters sofa. You can imagine how uncomfortable it is switching to a nice warm cotton bed to a hot sticky leather sofa, anyways back to the scary part. Because of this drastic change of my bed I had to sleep laying on my back not on my usual side because the size of the sofa had me positioning all over, when I finally fell after constant figiting I woke up to what sounded like dog claws coming down the stairs, at first I assumed it was my sisters dog, it jumped on my cover and I could feel the weight pushing down, after minutes pasted by I realised that my sisters along with their dog was vistiting my granddad for a couple of days. I immediately trues to move my head up but found that I was driven in place, I was scared now not knowing what this was at the Time. I shut my eyes hoping to wake up thinking I was still dreaming but when I opened them it was morning and I heard someone coming down stairs from my sisters room, realising I still couldn’t move I started panicking but no word came out my mouth, by the way my head was positioned I couldn’t see who came through the door but they sat down and put on the tv I remember it was the tv show Jeremy Kyle, this calmed me down abit hoping that my sister had come back while I was asleep, but what happened next I would never forget, the figure who I assumed to be my sister got up and walked very slowly towards me, “WAKE UP” it said very loudly that it hurt my ears I could hear it getting closer and the sound of nails scratching on the walls as it did. Very quickly in a blink of an eye it sprung its face into mine, it was nothing but darkness in its face, at this point I was in tears, I was completely helpless and this thing was three inches from my face and suddenly it stared screaming, WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP, over and over till I could hardly stand it. Within seconds I sprung off the sofa crying on the floor I felt like I had come face to face with death itself, after getting my bearings I looked up to see it was still dark, I looked at my clock to see it was 2 in the morning, I turned on all the lights and checked all the rooms. I was in shock when I realised my sisters computer and game consol was missing, heading back down stairs I saw that the backdoor was open and muddy foot prints were spread all over the kitchen floor. I believe that that thing I was seeing was my subconscious telling me I NEEDED to WAKE UP for the very fact that we were getting robbed

Haunted Collage in iceland (Part 1)

Hi, so I have a few stories from my collage years living in a dorm. I am Icelandic so I’m
sorry for my English.

I went to this collage in the north of Iceland. Founded in the year 1925 it has a long
history and has most of it’s time been a boarding school of some sort. It has six
buildings, dorms in five of them but only 3-4 of them are used every year.

The first story I have for you from this school is the one that freaks me out the most because I still don’t know the truth about it.

There is a dorm building, called Elfstone, built sometime around or before 1929 that
always had a eerie feeling surrounding it. My first year there, it was closed for students
except for one classroom. Me and my roommate heard of the creepy dorm upstairs in
that building and wanted to check it out. We were on our way somewhere when we saw
the building was open so we grabbed the chance and went inside. We did not take the
course taught in this house so we had never seen inside of it. We quickly found the
staircase leading to the second floor, the ,,creepy” dorm. Walking up the stairs I felt
cold, like there was no heating in the house. The door to the dorm was closed so I
reached out to check if it was locked. It wasn’t.

Sleep paralysis

It’s been awhile since I’ve been afraid of what lurks in the dark, I have grown as both a person and a witch but I’ll try to recapture some of the horror I’ve experienced while delving into the world of witchcraft.

One of my first experiences was with what some may call a mare, this entity is comprised of a blue energy, female and haunts the house I live in, when first encountering it I woke up to find I was unable to move, my body frozen by an invisible forced.

Panic instantly consumed me as I desperately tried to move everything and anything… I could not… I could feel a force above me as fingers began to wrap around my neck and squeeze.… the force was unbearable… it’s fingers dig into the back of my neck and into the spine… I couldn’t breath… it felt like I was going to pass out… on the edge… I awoke it was the dead of night and I was out of breath and trembling.

Sleep paralysis?

A little information about me. I’ve been interested in the ghosts for years now, listening to stories from readers on YouTube and reading ghost books. This last year and a half I’ve listened to other stories. Skinwalkers, wendigos, aliens, etcetera. Because of this, I’d say I have a decent base of knowledge on unexplained phenomena, so you would think I would understand this, but I still really don’t.

I was in middle school at the time, being into the paranormal goes in phases to me. Some times I’ll read and watch a lot of material, then after a few months, take a break and focus on another subject. I remember it was one of those breaks, so paranormal things were one of the last things on my mind.

I was in bed facing my room when I woke up suddenly. Everything in my vision looked gray and blurry, whether from the early morning light or something else I’m not sure. I was facing my very colorful dresser and bookcase, but the longer I saw it the blurrier it became. I was confused, I couldn’t move at all, I tried to shift or just move my arms from where they were laying next to me but I couldn’t. Suddenly, I heard something, but it was not coming from outside. It came from inside my head, like you would imagine telepathy. Weirdly, I heard someone telling me, a man I think (its been a while), that I needed to listen for the screams. All I knew was that I was an agent, i remember thinking it clearly. The audio started playing. I focused hard to listen for something, anything.

Dont leave your windows open when you sleep

For the past two weeks or so the days have been getting warmer up here. I’m from Wisconsin so all the posts you see on the internet about the snow storms have already passed us. A couple days ago I opened my window and let in some fresh air. The day quickly passed by as I scrambled to finish my homework for tomorrow. When I finished, I got in bed and listened to some creepy stories out loud trying to fall asleep, unknowingly leaving the window open as I fell asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and listened for my phone. There was no sound so I assumed it was dead. I looked at my window and saw a figure crawling into my room. Its torso was long, almost stretched out but it’s arms were longer with bony fingers and sharpened nails. It had long scraggly hair and grey skin. It was crawling down from my window which is about 20 feet off the ground from the outside. I tried to move and call for my mom but I couldn’t. It was hard to focus on it and I quickly was pulled back into my slumber. Some time passes and I wake up again, forgetting about the sleep paralysis I had just encountered. In the silence of the night, I heard a scratching sound on the side of my pillow and all the memories rushed back like water flowing from a broken dam. I could hear it scratching my pillow with it’s long nails. I closed my eyes tightly but all I could think about was the creature’s smile, content in knowing how scared I was. I was helpless and gave up thinking I was dead. The pure terror, the feeling of an empty cold pit in the center of your stomach. All of the sudden everything stopped. I was able to move and I quickly ran to turn on the lights. I finished the rest of my sleep in the living room that night. I think the creatures in our dreams live in another plane or dimension. It could hear my phone playing from out of my window and crawled in and because I was half asleep I was able to see into their dimension. Regardless, when I listen to scary stories while i sleep, i’ll be sure to leave my window closed

Terrifying Hunt

Let me just start off by saying that I am not a substance abuser, no drugs or excessive drinking for me. On the night this happened, I did not have any alcohol at all.

I can’t say if this really happened, or if I just hallucinated or dreamed it all. But here goes.

The out doors have always called to me. I love hiking, camping, weekend off-grid survival training, and hunting. During the latter, I had an experience that I truly hope to forget.

Strange Awakening

Hi, My name is Mat, I’m from Canada, I’m a pretty normal guy who hasn’t really had many strange or paranormal experiences, I listen to this channels stories quite often and figured I’d share one of my own.

This happened to me about 3 years ago when I was 20 sometime in the summer. I was still living with my family at the time , and my bedroom was on the top floor and has 3 windows which is important to know for the event that takes place later on. I had a pretty normal day with nothing out of the ordinary taking place. However, when I went to bed that night something extremely strange would take place that would leave me terrified and confused.

I fell asleep after the rest of my family was already in bed and asleep, it was about 12 am Midnight. Everything was fine until I remember feeling tugging on all my limbs, and cold clammy hands wrapped around my ankles and around my wrists as well, they were kind of gently tugging me, I was still half asleep at this point and in a reflex fashion pulled my arms and legs back towards my body and groaned. That is when I heard a voice, the voice was calm, monotone and almost… Like inside my head if that makes sense, it was crystal clear.

Dream Visitor

First let me say that this story is going to be really difficult for me to tell.  However, after spending some time thinking it over I thought that maybe getting it out there will help me deal with what happened and maybe help someone else.  This is completely true and I will do my best to give as much detail as possible.  Because of how terrorized I was I think I blocked a lot of it out even though it was something that happened within this past year.

Even as a kid I always had very vivid dreams.  I often had lucid dreams (those were my favorite) as once I knew I loved the freedom of making choices without consequence.  As I got older, those lucid dreams would leave to some of the best sex dreams ever.  I mention this because it may be important later.  I used to talk in my sleep a bit (based on what my parents have told me) but have never sleepwalked nor had any other sleep issues.  I did have chronic nightmares but that’s a different story entirely.  But I thought having that information may help you understand why, what I am about to describe to you was so different, and so horrifying.

I was a freshman in college when I had my very first “sleep paralysis” type dream.  I use that term loosely as I am not really sure how to categorize what I experienced.  I had been studying on my bed, room light on, sitting with my back against the wall.  I don’t know when I fell asleep but I do remember waking up.  At least I thought I was awake.  I opened my eyes, noticed the books on my lap and heard a knock or something on my door.  I got up to get it and then I woke up.  This continued for about 4 or 5 times each time with me becoming more and more panicked.  The very last time I woke up in my dream I started to hear voices.  They were very mumbled, starting off quietly and continuously getting louder and louder.  All I kept hearing was different voices yelling their name and a date.  I couldn’t keep up with them all and it was starting to make my head hurt.  I remember putting my heads up, squeezing my head, and trying to get off my bed and away from the voices.  The pain was so intense I could barely crawl on the floor as I tried to make it 10 feet across the dorm room and to the door.  When I thought the voices were going to make my head explode, I finally woke up for real.  I was still in the same place with my back against the wall and books on my lap.  I was actually nervous I was still asleep.  I immediately started to cry and called my dad.  I told him I thought I was going crazy.  He said that I probably wasn’t sleeping well and before I voluntarily submitted myself to a psych ward that maybe it would be a good idea to just try and get a few good nights sleep.  I must have listened because I never had the experience again.  I sometimes wished I could have remembered the names and dates I heard but the pain was too intense to allow me to focus.  I wasn’t going to include this part of my dream history but upon sitting down to write this thought maybe it could be related.
