I was 16 in 2012 when this happened. My family have been avid hunters for years. So when I got my hunting licence they immediately put in a request to hunt in one of the most popular area’s in my state (I’ll keep the state and area for private purposes).
I’ll set the scene a little bit. My grandfather and I were going to be staying in the area for 2.5 weeks in an RV. Then a couple of my cousins would be driving to us, stay for their turn, then drive the RV back at the end of the season.
My granddad (who we’ll call K) packed everything he could think of, even an ATV to travel the area quicker, and enough food to feed a small army. Only I had a hunting permit but my family didn’t think a young girl being alone for 2.5 weeks would be safe, so I took a .30.06 Springfield for safety, as well as hunting.

I will start by saying this is the very first time im posting this and it is a true story frankly it still gives me chills, but ive been a big fan of your narrating so i thought this would be the best place to let it be known..
I will say ive grown up hunting in the woods and im quite used to all the sounds of nature and accustomed to what is around me but this… this was just nothing like ive ever seen, me and my buddy jake were hunting in the woods of eastern tennessee close to the north Carolina boarder, we used to go out there for the weekends once a month and camp out while we hunted.. We got out there friday night and set up our tents and gathered some wood for our fire since we got out there too late to start down any of the trails so that night we just sat by the fire and had made ourselves some supper, everything was peaceful until around 11pm we started hearing branches breaking and twigs snapping, almost like something wanted us to know it was there and it sounded big the branches being broke made a loud crack as if someone broke a huge branch over their knee, me and jake jumped out of our tents and mind you we only had bows because it was archery season we both had our flashlights in one hand and our knifes in the other… we were searching around with the lights to find out what was over there and by this time the fire was already really dimmed down i put another piece of wood onto the fire just to lighten up our area just incase it was a black bear or something it would stay away from the camp and as soon as the sparks flew into the air from throwing the wood on this loud and strange gurgly growl came from within the woods.. this was no bear, was not a cougar i have no idea what made the growl but it was like nothing ive ever heard before my buddy started yelling at it telling it to go away and get.. i grabbed my bow from the tent telling him if he found what this thing was to keep the light on it… after i reached into my tent we heard branches and leaves rustling moving away from us… so we thought it was over we sat there that night keeping wood on the fire talking loudly until sunrise, the next day we figured it was probably a bear and we just guessed it had to be a bear or something and shrugged it off we went hunting like normal and we bagged a pretty nice size buck but it was starting to get late in the day already so we both put our bows over our shoulders and we each grabbed a side of the buck he had the back legs and i had the front carrying it to our camp so we could pack our things and head out of the woods, when we got back to our camp it was destroyed and it started getting darker fast we looked at each other and we both knew what the other was thinking because we both just took the deer and left our tents and coolers behind along with our packs and just headed down the trail to get back to our trucks and we started hearing that growl again coming from behind us and it was starting to get louder so we started to pick up the pace even more trying to get out of there until it literally sounded like it was right behind us, by this time it was already dark and we couldn’t see anything around us so we dropped the buck and i grabbed my knife from my sheath… before jake could get his light on this thing, it was gone when we turned around so grabbed my light out of my pocket and started looking around and didn’t see anything right behind us so we started walking down the trail back the way we were running slowly and cautiously because we both felt if we would have flight instead of fight we probably wouldn’t have made it out of the woods… but we still didn’t see anything.. so we turned around and our buck was now gone not even drag marks like something lifted it up off the ground and carried it away silently we both ran out of the woods and made it to our trucks, the next day we went back to get our tents and everything this time bringing our guns out just in case and on the way back into where we were standing where the deer carcass disappeared at we found a set of tracks… deer tracks to be exact.. and each track was huge.. the size of my size 10 boot… we were both at a loss for words when we saw that but we wanted to get our stuff so we made sure we had one in the chamber of our guns just in case because we had no idea what we could be up against, we get to the camp site and start cleaning up our area when another hunter stumbled upon us he seemed terrified and ran up to us saying “thank god you guys have guns i dont know what this this is it started chasing me we have to get out of here” and while he was talking we all heard that same familiar growl we looked and heres this thing it had to be at least 7 feet tall standing on two legs walking closer to us snorting like a buck in heat had long skinny arms with human like hands the head of a deer skull didn’t even have fur or flesh with sharp jagged teeth one antler and the other side looked like it may have been broken off… and it had the hooves of a deer… me and jack immediately started shooting at it i hit it in the shoulder with my 12 gauge knocked it back almost knocking it over, it made that growl again just before it turned around and darted back into the thick woods me and jake just left our tents and just got out of there… from now on if i go bow hunting ill always have my .45 or another pistol with me just in case because this thing i guess you could call it a wendigo judging by all the stories you have read makes me believe thats what this is… but either way to this day i still get creeped out thinking about it… ive told this to another friend of mine and he said he wanted to go in and find this thing… i advised him not too but i dont know if he ever listened since we no longer talk but this is the second time telling this to someone… this is the first time posting it online anywhere.. all these sightings you have read seem to be at night… seems like no one has seen one during the day time and let me tell you.. id rather have seen this thing at night… because during the day… you can see every last little detail in the matter of seconds… and those images will haunt you… at night you can shrug it off and say your eyes were playing tricks on you with the shadows… well… im here to tell you… it wasn’t your mind playing tricks on you… it wasn’t shadows… what you have seen.. ive seen it as well during daylight… and i DONT want to ever see it again
PS. i hope i typed my incident out in the right format im not sure what a double spaced paragraph is…
I have always been an avid outdoorsman and have been hunting in the woods of Maine, with my grandfather, since the age of 10.
In January of 2016 I picked up a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 Rifle at a gunshow. This was the standard service rifle of the Red Army during the second World War. I have always been a history nut and this was my chance to combine my love of hunting with my love of history.
I cleaned it up and got it sighted in and ready for November.
One day that November my grandfather gave me a call and said “meet me at our usual spot and we’ll head in for a half day hunt”.

So, let’s get into this. I am an avid hunter and have been for quite some time. I have also hunted in this particular area for the past five years and am very familiar with this mountain.
It was the fourth day of bear season. I had decided on a meadow about two months before due to all of the heavy predator sign such as prints, scat and dead carcass’.
Now you have to understand hunting predators tends to be slightly unnerving at times. We also have a built in sense you can tell when something is close and doesn’t feel right.

A few years ago I was invited by my friend Matt to go deer hunting in a range of mountains neither one of us had ever been to before. He had gone up a few days ahead of me to claim a nice camping spot and to hunt with his son for a few days on their own.
The day I headed up I had found their camping spot only no one was there and concluded they went hunting early as it was after sun up now. I decided to go explore and hunt on my own and come back around mid day thinking they would be back by then. I had brought two rifles to hunt with. An old world war 2 Mosin Nagant with open sights and a .25-06 with a scope. I chose to go with my Mosin Nagant for this adventure and proceeded to unload my ATV, donned my hand sewn ghillie suit I just made the week before, slung my rifle and head out.
After a while of driving around and taking short hikes into areas that seemed to me like a sure thing that there would have been a deer in there and getting “skunked” as we call it locally when you don’t see anything when hunting.

Hello my name is James. I was 14 when I saw this. I was allways an outdoorsy type of kid I used to grab one of my guns and go out into the woods 200yards behind my house and shoot at anything that moved or I would go hunting. One day on a October morning I thought it was a good idea to go squirrel hunting, I grabbed my 12Gauge shotgun and a box of shells then I got all my heavy camo on and my gloves and facemask. I went out after telling my mom I was going to a friend’s house I set put on my hunt.
I went out a I walked for a good 2hours I saw nothing for my entire walk to my old shelter I made when I was younger which is weird because around my house squirrels are allways out this time of year. I walked for 30 minutes more before I got weird feeling I was being watched.
I thought it was a wolf or something so I readyed my shotgun and pumped a she’ll into the chamber. I wanted to think I was the meanest thing in those woods at the time, untill I heard the most ear splitting shreak I’ve ever heard in my life it was a distance away from me but it still put me on edge. I calmed myself down and gave a quick prayer. I became calm and continued to walk down the trail. It was getting dark and I had shot a few squirrels, thats what I think a tracked it to me.

This happened about 3 months ago, which was September from today. Me and my friend Justin were gathering our gear to go for a deer hunt. It was a little past noon, so we didn’t expect animals to start moving yet, so we had some time to get prepared.
Our usual hunting spot is only a mile and a half walk from our property. The spot we like to sit from gives us a view of the whole area. It is on top of a hill, in a field. The woodline is directly behind us, so we are quite close to some deer bedding. I was armed with a compound bow, while Justin had a crossbow, with a scope.
Our plan was to sit till about 6, since it usually gets dark at 5:45. One thing about our hunt kind of had me on edge, and that was that the area was a bit quiet, besides the occasional leaf falling, or wind gusts.

Let me just start off by saying that I am not a substance abuser, no drugs or excessive drinking for me. On the night this happened, I did not have any alcohol at all.
I can’t say if this really happened, or if I just hallucinated or dreamed it all. But here goes.
The out doors have always called to me. I love hiking, camping, weekend off-grid survival training, and hunting. During the latter, I had an experience that I truly hope to forget.
