I had to be only 4 when this happened. I lived in the countryside neighboring a very small fenced in pasture that went from a stream engulfed by brush to the road(about 150ft or so). I remember jumping on my trampoline in my backyard about 30ft away from the stream when a storm came rolling in. My parents let me stay outside because I loved jumping in the rain. I started hearing thunder and saw a couple flashes of lightning in the distance. I was having the time of my life.
I was facing the stream and as I turned to face the road, lightning flashed and I saw it.
It was perched on the last fence post closest to the road. It had shiny black feathers that looked smooth to the touch. It took me a minute to realize that the thing I was looking at was some sort of bird because I had never seen or heard of one that big in my life. I looked at it, and it looked at me. It felt like an eternity but it had to be only a couple of minutes. Then with a flash of lightning and a crackle of thunder it flew away.
I ran inside and told my parents but they never really believed me. Years later I was doing a project on different native legend or something along those lines, when I saw a picture of the Thunderbird. Instantly the memories of seeing that giant bird came back to me. I told others but they never believed me. I know what I saw, and it was Thunderbird.
