I’ve been known to drive around aimlessly at times. Usually, I end up at a diner, laundromat, 24-hour store or someone’s house. However, I seem to have bad luck when it comes to having a destination in mind. 2016 was such a year. It was a year when an innocent trip became a night of unspeakable horror.
I was driving up to New York to visit my wife’s brother, Thomas. As soon as I got on a lonely road, I got a sense that we were being watched. My wife was drumming her fingers on her arm rest, which is something she only does when she’s agitated. It was a warm night, so I thought opening a window would calm her down. However, as soon as i started to lower the window, she said “I swear to God, if you don’t put it back up, I’ll punch you!” Her tone made it clear that disobeying would be felt for days to come. I immediately put the window back up and asked her what her problem was. She stared at me for about 5 minutes without saying a word. “We’re on Ghost Mountain Road” she said. I immediately braked and asked her “Are you sure?” She nodded and told me that my reaction must mean I heard about Ghost Mountain Road in the PA, NY area. I nodded and told her all the stories I heard. It didn’t take long for me to realize why she was so agitated. The stories that came out of Ghost Mountain Road were strange, bizarre, scary, and downright disturbing. I decided to try turning around, but I wasn’t able to, because what happened next is something I’ll never forget.
I had just shifted into reverse, when a gang of 8 albinos ran out of the woods, and started punching, kicking, whipping, and smacking my Camry. I didn’t know where they got the whips and had no interest in asking because they were clearly focused on possibly hurting me, my wife, or both. I started to honk my horn to scare them off, but they didn’t relent. I started to call the police, but then remembered that even the cops wanted to stay away and refused to patrol the mountain alone. I felt like I was standing at the gates of Hell. All of a sudden, I saw a face loom at my window and I screamed bloody murder. All I saw was white skin, red hair, and (freakiest of all) violet eyes. It was a female albino. To be honest, I had NEVER seen a female albino. If I wasn’t panicking at that moment, I probably would’ve found her mildly attractive. But, due to the circumstances, I was fearing for my life. I decided to take a huge risk, and did something that was both brave and extremely stupid. I took out a flare gun, which I only had for emergencies, and opened my window just enough to fire a flare. As soon as it cracked, the albinos got scared and ran back into the woods. My wife was so terrified, she immediately vomited on the floor. I saw a scratch mark on my window and knew if I hadn’t had the flare gun, one or both of us would’ve likely been stabbed.
We started yammering like idiots when we arrived at Thomas’s house. My wife was shaking so bad, Thomas fetched her a towel and I was so freaked, I needed a whole bottle of Pepsi to calm down. After my wife stopped shaking and I was calmed, we told Thomas everything that had happened from start to finish. Thomas folded his hands and looked both of us in the eyes. He said “Go to my room, close the shades, keep the lights off, and whatever you do DON’T make a sound!” He then got out a rifle he had behind the sofa and said “I’ll keep watch tonight. Whatever you do, just relax. I won’t let anything happen to my sister or brother-in-law.” Lauren (my wife) and I obeyed and went to his room. Despite what had happened, Lauren and I fell asleep quite quickly. When we woke up the next morning, Thomas was making breakfast and reported that nothing happened last night.
After we had breakfast, Lauren and I got in the car and went right back home. I saw some weird drawings on the road and backed up to take a look at them. Without getting out, I looked at what they were and heard my blood pulsing in my ears when I saw what they were. Then, Lauren shrieked and pointed out her side. I climbed onto her lap and looked. Right where we had been attacked. there were blood spatters. We both looked at each other and I got out. There were 2 body outlines on the road with the spatters in between them. I told her that there was an outline on my side as well. 3 outlines that had not been there the previous night! Lauren and I have never been back to that road, and I would prefer to keep it that way. I always thought the albinos were misunderstood and people just made up stories about them to have a reason for berating those people. Now, I know that the kind of things I had heard about the albinos was terrifyingly real. i still get chills whenever I think about that night.
