I was about 5 years old when this happened. Most people wouldn’t remember that much from this age. But this event scarred me for life.
It happened in shallow water Kansas. A small town just outside of Scott city is where I was born. I was playing outside in my great grandmother Ruth’s backyard.
It was a normal day. The sky was clear, it was warm. There was a slight breeze but that was a normal day in Kansas. Everything was going great. Well until I looked at the roof of the school that was across the dirt road from my grandmas house.
I looked up and there it was.
Just watching me.
Im getting goosebumps just typing this on my phone. It was standing on top of the school. It was about 4-5 ft tall and it had large red eyes and very large wings. It looked like something straight from hell. The wings were like bat wings. They were a dark brown. The creature itself was all black with a massive scar on its left leg like it had been shot or stabbed.
If you’ve ever seen the movie E.T. It’s head looked very similar to that. As soon as it knew I realized it was there watching me, it jumped off the roof and started walking towards me.
I was paralyzed in fear. It walked until it was about 30 feet from me. At that time I was crying and I stood up and ran back to my grandma as House as fast as I can. If it wanted me dead then I wouldn’t be writing this rightnow because I’m more than sure it could have wrapped its clawed fingers around my small toddler head and crushed it and flew off with my body with ease.
As soon as I ran inside tears flowing down my face everyone asked me what’s wrong. I replied with “I just saw the predator!!” That’s what I called it.
The predator. I don’t know why but it just seemed like something you’d call this…. thing. Later in life when I was about 10, me and my dad were talking about it. He said that wasn’t the first time he’d had an experience with the predator.
He told me he seen it kill his dog and a few cats when he was a teenager.
He said he shot at it and hit it in the leg with a 7.62×39 rifle and it flew off. I’m 17 now and I refuse to go back to that town without a weapon. I don’t know what it was. But I know it was a carnivore and I’m lucky to be alive today.
If you ever visit shallowater kansas, im warning you, don’t forget your gun. You never know when you may need it.
