Witch in the Park

Now, it’s not much of a story, but it’s believable because of that.

The story doesn’t take place in US like most of the stories here but in southeastern Europe, Croatia to be more precise in city of Dubrovnik. If any of you watch Game of Thrones you can recall the scene of Joffrey’s wedding and the park where the scene of it was took, is the park in which my stories take place.

Now the park isn’t that large at all, in the most isolated place you are probably 2 minutes of walking away from the nearest house, and you can walk trough entire park in 10 minutes, but when it gets dark it can get really creepy.

First story happened probably a bit less than a year ago my girlfriend and me we were walking in the more wooded part of our little park, but still we were 10 seconds from the nearest house. My girlfriend is the easily spooked type of person, so I was making fun of her being scared of this park, she was begging me to go out of it and I assured her we will be out in a minute, when we suddenly heard this, what is best described as a witch’s cackle, like that cliche cackle you hear in kid’s movies. So there was no previous noise of people talking or walking or anything like that, nor did it came from the direction of the houses I mentioned before, it came from the only direction there were no,

so we bolted it out of there, our descent into the civilization lasted less than a minute. Once we were on the road again my girlfriend started crying out of terror. We mostly written it of to somebody screwing with us or just somebody with a really creepy laugh, but the memory of it haunted us a bit and we didn’t visit that park for some time after that.

The next story takes place half a year after that, somewhere a bit before the december of 2016, this time my girlfriend or anybody else wasn’t present there. It happened somewhere around 3 to 5 in the morning, can’t remember correctly. Now I was drunk, but not the drunk people imagine when somebody says drunk,

I basically drank enough so I would be relaxed enough to dance and not to feel out of place in a club. So as the night was passing and the last drink I had was hours ago, I started to feel more and more sober. I wasn’t in many clubs in my life so I can’t if it is like this everywhere but the first signs that you are getting sober in the mentioned club, isn’t the return of your self awareness of how bad you dance and the feeling that comes with it. It’s the heat, the unbearable heat that drives anybody except the one who are drunk enough not to care or notice.

So as I said I was getting sober, and the heat was getting unbearable, so I decided to take a walk, during my walk I felt a need to relieve myself and since I didn’t feel like going back to that hell just yet, and I didn’t want to be an asshole and piss near somebodies door I decided to take my call of nature to the nature herself. I walked up the hill to the park and didn’t venture deep maybe 50 meters from the entrance and I started doing it.

Then I heard that same laugh, that same cackle coming roughly from the same direction I heard it last time, only that this time that place was a bit more away from me so it was more quite, bit more trough the echo, but it was the same cackle I’ve heard a half a year before that.

I froze for a second, finished what I came for and walked from there as fast as I could without running.

I mentioned this, same as the other encounter to my friends who laughed it of, either not believing it or just writing it off to whatever.

I didn’t hear anything of sort since, nor did I hear anybody having same or similar experiences and it’s a frequent place to walk your dog during the day, and a popular spot for all sorts of metal heads and hipsters to drink during the weekend. So I hope it was just some random coincidence of somebody laughing creepily while I happened to be there.

Creepy Encounter Near my University

I am a 24 year old female from Romania. At the time this event took place, I was 22 and attending a pretty big university in western Romania to get my masters degree.
Because it’s a masters program, the lectures take place in the afternoon to late at night.

So on this particular day, my lecture finished at 9pm, on a january night. I lived on campus, pretty close to the university building, about a 10 minute walk. My boyfriend also lived close. So after the lecture finished, I said good bye to my classmates and off I went.

I decided to take a shorter route, through a small park that was situated between the university main building and a church. After that day, i would never walk through that park alone at night…

There’s a main path that cuts through the park directly to the main road. That path is surrounded by trees and no street lights. The only light that barely illuminates that path was coming from the church nearby. Usually, it’s walked by a lot of students day and night so i never thought i was at any risk. Just my luck, on this night there was no one walking the path but me.

I am a very paranoid person so i was a little anxious being there alone in the dark. I saw him behind a tree. I froze inside but my legs continued walking.

As soon as i made eye contact with him, he emerged from the tree he was hiding behind, literally 3 feet from me. He didn’t really look threatening, from what I remember, he was a short balding man, maybe in his 40s, with a trench coat on and his hands in his pockets. I wasn’t imediatelly scared by him, although it was definitelly suspicious. He waited until i passed him and he grabbed my arm and swung me around to face him.

My blood went cold and i got a sinking feeling that something horrible is about to happen. He said “hey honey, where are you going?” with a sadstic smirk on his face and one hand still in his pocket.

I said something like “what the hell do you want? Let me go!” And yanked my arm away from him. I looked around to see if someone else was there, any other student or person that could possibly see this scene and save me, but nope. We were alone.

Seeing me panic probably made him happy. He pulled me in a disgusting embrace and led me closer to the trees and tried to touch my ass. I has a long jacket on, but i still felt his disgusting hand. I had tears in my eyes and i shakily said “you better get the fuck away from me or i’m calling the police!”. I doubt he took my half-assed threat seriously.

He smiled and said something like “we both know you won’t have the chance to do that.” He never took his left hand out of his pocket, and now I was sure I was getting kidnapped, raped and then killed.

By some holy miracle, I heard footsteps coming from the main path. He heard them too. We both looked in the direction where the path joins with the main sidewalk out of the park, and there was a couple, holding hands and walking in our direction.
The second he saw them, the man took off running in the darnkess between the trees. As the couple got closer and saw the man running off, they just shot me a worried look, but I didn’t feel like sticking around to explain what happened so I just ran out of that damn park.

As soon as I got out on the main sidewalk and near people, I called my boyfriend crying to come meet me and walk me home.

I was determined to go to the police but after thinking it through, I didn’t. The man was gone by now anyway, there was nothing the police could or want to do.

After that day, whenever I had classes until late at night, my boyfriend would come wait for me outside the building and walk me home. I carry pepper spray with me ever since.

I still wonder what that disgusting pervert had in his pocket and what he intended to do with me.. but I’m grateful for that couple because they saved me.
