Me and my friend are Civil War reenactors, this story happened back in August (25) of 2018. A little background on “The Battle of Richmond” first. It was fought on August 29-30, in Richmond KY. The Union soldiers who fought there were only weeks out of training, while the Confederate Soldiers had been in the Army for about a year. Union losses were 206 killed and 844 wounded, while Confederate losses were 78 killed and 372 wounded. It was a Confederate victory.
We arrived at Richmond the 24, (the battle was the 24-26), found the people we were doing the reenactment with and talked to them for a little bit. After that I walked the battlefield for a bit, it was getting late so the sun was just going down over the horizon, it was beautiful. The next day we arrived for the battle, we were portraying the 95th Ohio Infantry, Union Army. We drilled for a bit then marched to the field.
The entire time we were reenacting the battle, I couldn’t shake this feeling I had. Just a feeling of worry and guilt. After the battle was over we stood in front of the crowd while someone gave a speech. We had broken into 1 single file line for this, when in battle we were in 2 ranks. My friends mom snapped a picture sometime we were in line.
