It wasn’t a dog

I live in at the edge of a really small town in Serbia and I go to school in a city at least 20 miles away from there, so i travel by bus every day. One evening I came back from school at around 8 pm and I called my dad to pick me up by car, but he was sick so he told me to come home by foot.

It was a 20 minute walk so I didn’t mind. It was winter period so by 8 pm it was dark out already.

I really enjoyed walking so i took my time going back home. It was around 8:30 pm I arrived at this small woods area. There was no street lights for at least 400 feet from there and there was that little woods area next to the road. I was passing there and I heard a noise coming from the woods.

It gave me chills since there was almost no civilization for like 400 feet around and I was terrified of dogs. I started walking a bit faster until I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and I saw this giant dog-like creature.

Although it was standing on all fours it must have been at least 5 feet tall. I was paralyzed, still thinking it was a dog I didn’t know what to do. It started sniffing the air, and I started feeling a relief thinking it was not aggressive. I was still just standing there not making a move thinking how stupid I was for being scared that much, until that thing stood up on two legs…

I couldn’t believe my eyes, it must have been at least 8 feet tall. I was terrified and I started crying and breathing heavily.

It looked at me with those yellow glowing eyes, I’ll never forget those eyes…

I was staring at it, paralyzed, not knowing what to do, and it was taring back at me. I thought I was going to die, I thought this was the end, and I had nothing else on my mind but to run. I know it was a horrible idea, but I couldn’t think of anything smarter. I started running as fast as I could and I could hear it was chasing me.

I started crying even more and started losing my breath, I reached the area where the street lights were but I continued on running.

The street dogs from all around started barking probably since they saw me. I couldn’t run anymore so I just dropped on the ground, being certain that thing was still chasing me. I was lying on the ground for at least a minute almost certain I was going to die.

After some time I realized there was nothing. I stood up and looked around but there was nothing except the curious street dogs sniffing me. I would’ve been scared of them but I felt like it was all a dream. I walked back home laughing at myself. I couldn’t believe what just happened.

I came into my house all dirty and messed up. My parents wouldn’t believe me and my brother was laughing at me telling me I’m crazy. I’ve never seen that creature again, and I’m glad I haven’t…
